My friend's mom whom I had known since I was and who was like a mother to me passed away from cancer during my senior year of high school. It was one of the toughest weeks I have ever been through having to watch my friend's family fight through the pain of losing their mom. Then when I got to college I learned that one of my new friends was diagnosed with cancer and survived it, but he lost his hair and due to the surgery has to walk with a limb to avoid pain. In one case I witnessed pain and suffering and in the other I witnessed the willingness to lose a little to gain a lot. Due to both of these I am going to shave my head and try to recruit some donations so that I can have done something to help no one have to go through what they have gone through. I know cutting my hair is no where near the sacrifice they have made, but it's better than nothing.
