Buzzing 4 Change

Journeys of Change

footprintsAs you may know, Buzzing for Change is run entirely by volunteers, which means that everyone on our Team has a day job.  I work for Hillel at Temple University where I advise Jewish students on Temple's campus.  At my job we often talk, as I am sure other campus religious groups do, about a students growth.  We use the metaphor of them being on a "journey."   A few years ago a friend of mine equated this to a staircase and that some students are starting at the bottom (have very little knowledge / self awareness) and some start further up - meaning that not everyone is starting at the same place, but they are all on the same playing field.

With Buzzing for change I think of participants being on a "Journey of Change."  There are people who participate in our events who have raised thousands of dollars for other causes and may have done many walk-a-thons; some who have even organized fundraising or volunteer events of their own.

On the other hand, there are participants that get involved in Buzzing for Change having never volunteered or raised money for a cause.  They may become involved because they recently lost a loved one to cancer, or because their friends are doing, or because of one of the hundreds of other reasons we can't think of.

It is our hope that no matter where B4C fits in as part of our journey of change that you take a minute to reflect on how it affects you and how it may help determine that next step in your journey.
