Buzzing 4 Change

Back to School...

The new school year is about to begin for most of our programs, and TB4CF has gotten geared up as well.  We are in the final stages of developing our three year strategic plan, we finally finished our year end accounting (and raised nearly $30,000 for children living with cancer), recruited new people for our team and spent significant time revising and updating our program manual. In the spirit of starting the year off right, we wanted to share the letter to our programs' that is in the beginning of this year's Program Manual:

Dear Friends,

As I recently gave an interview where I spoke about one of the greatest joys for me since B4C was founded at GW almost 7 years ago. I was walking around campus the day after our first event and saw people with their shaved heads, cut hair and B4C t-shirts. I knew then that B4C was something special and something that would grow beyond the confines of Foggy Bottom.

These past three years since the founding of TB4CF has proven that which I knew back then. As we reviewed applications for new programs this past spring, everyone on the board commented on how professional they were and how much you were committed to making this happen; but making it happen on your own terms. Each time a new B4C program throws its first event I learn something new about the Program and what it means to all of those involved. Don't ever forget that the TB4CF Team and I are eternally grateful for the work that you do to make each of these programs be a success in their own right.

Michael Josephson once said: "People of character do the right thing, not because they think it will change the world but because they refuse to be changed by the world." You are all people with character and are doing this because you refuse to succumb. Always know where you are headed, work hard and diligently, and remember that you are doing something great.

Good luck this year!
